ADT and Ring Settle Trademark Dispute

Ring will release a new version of its Outdoor Siren product and will discontinue the marketing and sale of the current design

BOCA RATON, Fla., June 24, 2021 – ADT, the most trusted brand in smart home and business security, has settled a lawsuit against Ring LLC (Ring), an Amazon company and provider of smart home security devices. The suit, filed in April 2021, alleged trademark infringement involving ADT’s blue octagon mark and Ring’s products.

“ADT and Ring are pleased to have reached a mutually agreeable resolution,” said David Smail, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at ADT. “Ring will release a new version of the Outdoor Siren product and will discontinue the marketing and sale of the current design.”

Smail added, “As we continue to innovate in the smart home technology space through new products and partnerships—including partnerships with Google and other peers in the marketplace—it’s important that we protect our customers, our IP, and our reputation.”
