Now, ADT is bringing that tradition into the digital age with Trusted Neighbor™, a service that offers secure, seamless and flexible access to the home through the ADT+ app*. 

Trusted Neighbor™ gives homeowners complete control over who enters their home, when they enter and how they gain access. Whether it’s a visiting guest, a home maintenance worker or a dog walker, Trusted Neighbor™ allows users to set up timed access — so they always know who will be coming and going and on what schedule.

And it’s not just for planned visits. If an unexpected situation arises — like a water leak notification or a package delivery sitting on the porch — Trusted Neighbor™ makes it easy to grant event-driven access to someone trusted, so they can take care of the issue without the homeowner needing to rush home. 

ADT is also introducing Auto-Unlock*, a feature that combines convenience with security. Using Google Nest Doorbell’s Familiar Face Detection, Auto-Unlock can recognize trusted individuals as they approach the door. The ADT+ app then verifies their identity and confirms their proximity to the home. Once verified, the system automatically disarms, and the smart lock opens — all without the need for keys or codes.

It’s a seamless solution for busy homeowners and trusted individuals alike, whether juggling groceries, managing kids or simply needing a smoother way to enter the home. And just as importantly, when the trusted individual leaves, Trusted Neighbor™ ensures the door is locked, and the ADT system is rearmed.
