Before an ADT device ever enters a customer’s home, an intricate process has already unfolded behind the scenes. It begins long before an order is placed — sometimes more than a year in advance — with careful forecasting and coordination to ensure the right parts are available when they’re needed.
Getting ADT's security and life-safety devices to customers is a highly complex process that involves months of planning with vendors, synchronized coordination of supply chain logistics and meticulous attention to detail from our distribution center teams.
“We have a 12-to-18-month planning forecast with our suppliers to ensure they can meet our demand,” said Eric Blue, Vice President, Supply Chain.
When shipments arrive from these vendors, the products are stored in ADT’s massive distribution centers in Atlanta, Georgia, and Springville, Utah — warehouses so large they could fit several football fields. Although the facilities are vast, when an order comes in, the distribution process moves quickly.
First, the box is labeled with a barcode that specifies what needs to be shipped. Each shipment is linked to a specific person, whether that’s a technician preparing for an installation or a customer waiting for a new device.
“Our employees know this box matters to this person, and that makes it more personal,” says Jared Vidoni, Director of Distribution.

From there, the box travels along an automated conveyor system to the section of the warehouse where the parts needed for that order are housed. An employee scans the barcode, gathers the items, and packs them with care.
Before the box leaves the warehouse, its weight is checked against the expected total. If it doesn’t match, quality control steps in to verify every item. That attention to detail pays off: ADT’s distribution centers maintain a 99.8% accuracy rate.
Finally, boxes are sorted by destination, stacked on pallets, and loaded onto trucks bound for homes and ADT offices across the country. In just two to three days, the journey is complete.
To you, it’s a delivery. To ADT, it’s the result of months of planning, intensive coordination and a team committed to getting it right — because when every second counts, the details matter.
