Over the past two years, ADT has transformed from the inside out. A series of strategic hires from the tech industry have partnered with veteran ADT leaders in its product and technology teams to help the company evolve its offerings, as ADT builds upon its leading position in the competitive smart home security market.

During this period, the company launched the ADT+ app, enabling customers to seamlessly control their home security systems from their smartphones. More recently, ADT unveiled a new hardware line, developed specifically for ADT+. Last August, ADT introduced the Trusted Neighbor™ feature, which allows customers to grant secure, temporary access to their home through the ADT+ app. Users with the ADT Complete pro monitoring plan can also take advantage of the option for AI to recognize the faces of approved people and automate their access to the home.*

ADT’s Chief Product Officer, Naveen Chhangani, and Chief Technology Officer, Gilles Drieu, were integral in the launch of Trusted Neighbor. They came to ADT because they were attracted to the company’s progression as a smart home leader.

Drieu brings experience from his time at Apple, Google, Motorola and Adobe. He says was attracted to the opportunity to lead and redefine ADT’s product engineering team in an era where smart home security is evolving exponentially.

“ADT is at the forefront of transforming the smart home security industry,” he said. “With our focus on cutting-edge technologies, including AI and IoT, this is a unique moment for tech talent to join us and contribute to shaping the future of home security and connected living.”

Drieu is particularly excited about ADT’s advancements in integrating AI and cloud services to enhance security solutions.

Chhangani, who previously worked at Palo Alto Networks, Seagate and Netgear, grounds his work in the company’s mission.

“ADT is a uniquely amazing collection of people who are trying to make the world a better place,” he said. “It’s commonplace, even cliché, for tech companies to claim that, but ADT already makes the world a better and safer place every day for our millions and millions of customers.

“Usually in tech, you invent a product and then must convince people how it will benefit them. But here, we have one single mission: making sure our users are safe. That is so powerful and so clarifying for our work. All our products and solutions revolve around the well-being of our customers — and that, in turn, inspires us.”

Chhangani and Drieu both see Trusted Neighbor as a step toward the future of smart home security. The new service was highlighted at CES in January. We caught up with both leaders at the worldwide technology event to learn more about what’s new in smart home security technology, what’s possible with the integration of AI into our homes, and what’s next for ADT in 2025.
