What makes ADT monitoring different? 5 reasons it stands out

2 min read

ADT Monitoring Agents respond to 15% more calls on Thanksgiving than a typical Thursday.

ADT’s professional 24/7 monitoring is a big reason why ADT is the most trusted name in security. There are five key factors that set ADT apart from the rest.

The largest company-operated monitoring network

ADT operates six monitoring centers in the U.S., located in New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, Florida, California and Texas. All of the centers are fully redundant and UL-certified, meaning they have been tested and verified by UL Solutions to meet specific safety, quality and performance standards.

Unlike many competitors, ADT does not outsource our monitoring services. Our centers are operated by ADT, giving us the largest company-operated security network in the country. This results in reliability, consistency and control over every alarm event.

Speed and reliability when every second counts

When an alarm signal is received, ADT responds in an average of 10 seconds*, far faster than industry norms. And thanks to fully redundant systems and immediate failover capabilities, our customers are never without our monitoring technology, even during hurricanes, power outages or network interruptions.

We process more alarm signals than any other company in the nation, helping ensure customers are protected without compromise.

Smarter alarm handling with AVS-01

ADT is leading the industry with Alarm Validation Scoring (AVS-01), a groundbreaking standard that classifies alarms based on threat level. This system provides first responders with critical context — whether it’s a false alarm, a property threat, or a life-threatening emergency — so they can prioritize resources, respond faster and better anticipate what they’ll be facing. ADT is the first full-service company to implement AVS-01 nationally, reinforcing our commitment to innovation and public safety.

Customer control with Alarm Messenger

Our Alarm Messenger feature puts power in the customer’s hands. When an alarm is triggered, customers and their emergency contacts receive a text notification, allowing them to verify or cancel the alarm in seconds. This interactive tool reduces false alarms by more than 50%** and speeds up verified dispatch requests.

The people behind the technology

Technology matters, but so does the human touch. ADT’s Monitoring Team includes more than 700 highly trained agents and leaders, with an average tenure of six years. Our agents are trained to handle emergencies with calm, care and professionalism. They combine technical expertise with empathy, helping ensure customers feel supported during critical moments.
