For more than 150 years, ADT has built our reputation as the most trusted brand in smart home and small business security. Our innovative ADT+ platform, comprehensive smart home products, Trusted Neighbor™ service and strategic partnership with Google set us apart as a market leader.
This leadership also makes ADT a prime target for competitors who resort to deceptive sales practices and dishonest marketing tactics. As the summer moving season gears up, we want to ensure our customers and potential customers don’t fall victim to sales scams.
Unfortunately, deceptive sales tactics can make it difficult to know who to trust. That’s why it’s so important to work with a company that prioritizes transparency and professionalism first. At ADT, our customers never have to second-guess who’s at their door or what they’re signing up for. From clear contracts to background-checked technicians and verified identification, we take every step to ensure your experience is honest, safe, and secure.
Knowledge is your best defense
Follow these tips to help protect yourself from sales scams:
- ADT Solutions Advisors or ADT Authorized Dealers will always carry proper company-issued identification.
- To confirm an ADT Solutions Advisor is really affiliated with ADT, ask to see their official identification. If they fail to provide it, don’t believe them.
- When in doubt as to whether ADT or an ADT Authorized Dealer was sent to upgrade or test your alarm system, call 800-ADT-ASAP before letting them into your home.
- Never sign any documents without a thorough review.
- If you suspect that someone is trying to trick you into changing your security provider, immediately report the incident to ADT by calling 800-238-2727, the Better Business Bureau or local law enforcement.
"At ADT, our mission goes beyond providing innovative security solutions. We are dedicated to ensuring that our customers are well-informed and protected from deceptive practices," said David Smail, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of ADT. "By empowering people with the knowledge they need to recognize and avoid scams, we continue to strengthen the trust that has been built over 150 years."
Everyone deserves to feel safe from sales scams, so it’s crucial that we maintain this trust by helping to protect our customers. Together, we can create safer, more secure communities for everyone.
